When I arrived home, I was lost as to why this Irish girl never came over when David and I used to live at his other house, but only after he put me in another house? I mean, I was in a good place as far as the love and the financial security I was getting, so needed I find a clever way to eliminate this rival of mine. Plus, I was too much of her senior to get messy with her.
I had the financial leverage to do a lot since I had no housing expenses. As I was sitting there wondering what to do, I called David and asked, babe is this house in my name? I’ve just been wondering about both the car and the house. Are they both on papers as mine, or is it yours on papers, but you presented it as a gift to me. David tells me, “yes and no.” I asked, meaning? Then he tells me he was going to sign the car title over to me, but as for the house, he will work my name into the papers once we got married. Later that evening, David signs the car title over to me. However, I felt a little sour that the house he proclaimed was a gift wasn’t in my name; so this left me feeling a bit insecure.
I called Marie and asked her, do you think Irish knows that David and I are engaged? She said, “hell yes”. She continues saying, “didn’t you see Irish and her mother Betty at your engagement party?” I said, no girl! Were they? She goes, “yes they were.” Marie added, “girl if you didn’t invite them, you know damn sure David did; and if he had already been sleeping with her daughter when they were invited, then that’s pretty messed up!” I quietly responded, yeah and immediately asked, but why though? This is not making any sense as to why David would wanna show me this much commitment if he’s not being sincere! I broke down and started crying. Marie left what she was doing, came over to my place, and consoled me.
On a Friday evening, I went to Walmart to pick up few things including some laundry soap to do my laundry. After filling my cart with what I needed, I proceeded to the self-checkout area. As I was approaching, I looked to see if there was a vacant register. Upon taking a quick glance, my eyes met Irish’s eyes and she quickly looked away. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, my heart started to pound in my chest, and I was at the point of hyperventilating. I abruptly left my cart where it was sitting, told the attendant to please watch my cart, and that I needed to use the restroom urgently. I ran to the women’s room and took few minutes to calm myself down. On my way out of the restroom, I looked over at the self checkout area, and what I saw puzzled me. Irish was pacing few steps away from her register and she seemed to be looking for me. I thought to myself, awk-ward.
I composed myself, walk to my cart, moved up to one of the available registers without paying her no mind, and started to checkout. From the corner of my eye, this girl body language was a bit disturbing. She looked as though seeing me casted fear and guilt upon her. She nervously finished checking out, grabbed her stuff, and started to walk out. I looked over and this girl is waking as fast as she could, but then all of a sudden stops. I quickly fixed my eyes on my checkout process and kept scanning my goods. To my surprise, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I was startled. I turned around and she goes, hey uh “my name is Irish.” I cut her off and said I know you! The tone of my voice spooked her a bit.
When I realized that I scared her, I smiled, cleared my throat, and said oh sorry if I scared you. I just have a lot going on, but yes David and I came to your high school graduation party and we were all so proud of you. I heard you’re in college too! Way to go! Irish smiled and said thanks. She then said to me, “I know this may seem strange, but can you please write your address and phone number on a piece of paper for me?” I said why? She goes “there’s something I’ve been burning to talk to you about; please.” I looked at her for a hot second and went-okay okay, hell; why not? As I reached in my purse to grab a pen and a paper, Irish goes “here, here”. “You can write it on my receipt”. Apparently, she already had her receipt and pen ready to go in her pocket. I grabbed it from her and reluctantly gave her my information. She told me thanks and as she was walking away, she turned waving and said “I’ll call you.” I was dumbfounded and didn’t know where this was going!
